And it's just the beginning......
Saturday 9/23/06
Today Rachel invited me along while she tried on wedding dresses. I cried on the way to the store, so that I wouldn't look stupid crying there. I guess others don't get as emotional as I do, but I just knew how it would feel to see my oldest child, dressed in her wedding gown. Ever since they are born and you look down on them while they are sleeping in your arms, you think about her wedding day. How she will look in the gown, being the most beautiful person in the world to you, how very proud you are of that child, and feeling the most love in your heart that you can for any one person. You just can't imagine loving anyone more than that child, and then when you have more children, your heart just expands even more, amazing yourself entirely.

Rachel chose a very beautiful princess styled gown and she is going to make a beautiful bride. I am very happy for her. I am of course worried too, I wouldn't be a decent Mom if I didn't worry about her. But she does seem to be a very strong person with her mind already made up on most things, so I just go along for the ride, and enjoy the tidbits and try to keep my mouth shut. I have to remember to keep my opinions to myself and probably now understand why my mother never did help me with my wedding. She did not help me shop for a dress, pick out invitations, look at the place for the wedding or reception, the flowers, or the cake. I didn't even know what dress she was going to wear to the wedding and really up to the date of the wedding, wasn't quite sure if my parents were going to attend or not. I don't think they were against the marriage, just never asked me questions or got involved with the planning. It was something I always wanted my Mom to be involved in and she just wasn't. One reason might have been that she had three other children younger than me to take care of, and just didn't know how to fit it in. (For those of you who know my mother, she is not like me and cannot juggle too many things at one time. She is perfect at the things she does, because she just doesn't take on very much.)

We went to a late lunch/early dinner and got out of Islands restaurant at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. It is one of the few times, when I have had an alcoholic drink with my lunch, we all did. When I got home, I had to take a nap - I was so tired. Now it is 9:00 p.m. and I am ready for a bite to eat. So Dave and I are on a mission to eat a little something light - there really is no good t.v. on Saturday night.

Last night Rachel, Sarah, David and I all went to the Padres game as guests of Vista Paint Co. We had tickets for reserved seats along with drink/food coupons. It took us a while to get to the game with all the freeway traffic and the usual parking structures were all full. We had to park several blocks away, and got one of the last two spaces available in a lot on 14th street. We arrived at the game a little after 8:00 p.m. (it started at 7:05 p.m.) Good game in that the Padres won 6-2, almost a shutout, cause the Pirates scored their two runs at the top of the 9th inning. Haven't been out to a game for a while, so really enjoyed myself and my children. (Missed my son Matt though)

Awwww. How exciting. I'm sure that Rachel will be just a glowing bride. Be sure and let us know when the wedding is. Maybe Jeremiah and I can swing a vacation! (If not, we'll be sure to at least send a gift!)
